Drop in Bed Liner - 3 Traps to Avoid

The drop in bed liner is one of the best options for truck bed protection. That's because plastic bed liners are about as tough as can be. If tough is what you need, this may be your best choice.

Look out though because the wrong liner can really cost you. Here are three ways a plastic liner can be an aggravation.

1. Noise.

You're adding a big plastic tub tot he bed of the truck. If it doesn't fit right, you may have a wind catcher that whistles and roars. There are many places for wind to get trapped if the design isn't right. Those wind catchers can equal big noise. A poor fit does more.

2. Paint gone.

Wind can easily catch parts of a liner and start the liner moving. That can turn to lots of vibration and shifting. That too may generate a racket, but there's more. A moving liner against paint means paint gets worn away and then what? Bare metal and water equals rust and corrosion. What was meant to protect the truck bed can actually do serious damage.

3. The water trap.

Some plastic liners trap water, especially if the bed drain becomes plugged. That wouldn't be so bad, but the water may be under the liner and out of sight. Get water trapped under a liner for a long time and you have the start of more rust, corrosion and damage. Make sure the liner you choose is made so it's easy for water to drain from under the liner.

There's a better choice.

That's a multiple piece liner. That way the liner can be made to fit the bed more closely and made to drain easier too. THe DualLiner is one such choice...

Make sure the liner you pick for your truck is a good fit and make sure it won't trap water. Check to be sure the liner is the right fit to avoid water damage and noise.
